Two Mews

Believe it or not, the two places shown in the photograph above are right next to each other.

They share the same post code, solar orientation and access.

And yet, one represents some very valuable real estate whilst the other is a maintenance and security nightmare.

Why?

Well, one was designed and built in response to a need.

The other is a dead space created by the new buildings to the left.

In the City of Westminster, this is a pretty profligate waste of space.

This could have been avoided if the new buildings had been designed with their context taken into account.
